An analysis or survey of QR code security risk and credibility.

Scope:

The scope of study will engage with the observation of possible vulnerabilities present while scanning malicious QR codes. This will be done by selecting 5 types of QR code generator tools to generate multiple QR code with some information. The testing will either using existing tools like Fidler2 web debugging that will logs all the web traffic from mobile to monitor the data sent by the application itself or I will develop one application to decode and retrieve the data sent by the application. This development will be done under Android platform which specifically by using Samsung SmartPhone. Another approach that can be done is by introducing some practical tips or solutions in providing secure QR codes. On the other part, by having good QR code reader that will filter out the information to be shared is one of the strategies in securing QR codes. There are many ways that can be listed out after completing this study that will help people out there to have secure QR code. We can also conduct an interview with company or professionals in QR code generation for any issues there are facing now in developing more stable and secured QR codes.
